NBCUniversal International Television has acquired a minority stake in Lark Productions, a Canadian independent TV producer.

NBCUniversal began providing development financing for Lark several years ago. Lark Productions was founded by Louise Clark in 2010. She is currently president of the company, and has brought on Ed Robinson whose previous credits in Canadian television include CTV and CBC.

President of the NBCUniversal unit Michael Edelstein told The Hollywood Reporter, “We have tremendous confidence in Louise and her team. Our working relationship with Lark has been incredibly fruitful over the past three years, and we are immensely proud of what they have accomplished. I look forward to working with Lark in the years to come and giving their shows the global reach they deserve.”

Lark develops shows for Canadian and international markets. Popular shows include Real Housewives of Vancouver and Motive. Motive is a crime drama about homicide detectives in Vancouver. Motive has been sold to Europe, Australia, Brazil, and Africa, according to Variety. NBCUniversal’s international production companies include Carnival Films, producer of the popular show, Downtown Abbey.
