Netflix has picked up a new adventure series, titled Marco Polo.

Variety that the show will be a nine-episode series about the very famous 13th Century explorer, Polo.

Casting has not yet been announced, but it has been announced that the cast will feature global talent. Filming very soon at the new Pinewood Studios in Malaysia.

The Hollywood Reporter added that Kon-Tiki directors Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg will be directing and producing Marco Polo with additional help from Dan Minahan.

Ted Sarandos, chief content officer of Netflix spoke about this new programming. "John Fusco and his team have created a timeless tale of power, adventure, betrayal and lust that combines deft storytelling and cinematic ambition, It is a fantastic addition to our slate of original series, both because of its quality and because it is the kind of gripping action-adventure that Netflix members love."

The show was originally be produced by Starz but Netflix now owns the rights and is moving forward. The series is set to air late in 2014.

Netflix is known for the original programming which includes, Orange is the New Black, House of Cards, and Netflix rebooted the fan favorite Arrested Development.
