On this week’s episode of Pretty Little Liars, Ezra continued to be creepy, Hanna was cranky and the girls got stuck in Ezra’s murder-cabin.
Before we start this recap, I just want to say that I pointed out how creepy that cabin was before the girls were stranded inside of it. I honestly think that someone will be murdered in that cabin by the end of the season. Because of that, I will continue to call Ezra’s cabin the murder-cabin.
Hanna: Hanna was grumpy this episode. I understand that her heart is broken because she believes that her boyfriend is cheating on her even though he is really caught in a Ravenswood curse, but that is neither here nor there. Hanna is off her game. She tells the other girls that she is tired of reading Ali’s diary, so it is someone else’s turn. She runs into Travis, the guy that tried to give Hanna his blackmail money earlier this season. He is super sweet to her and she blows her off.
When the girls go through Ali’s diary, they find that she went to the Busy Bee Inn. The figure that Ali might be staying there and they are going to go on a road trip to find her. On the drive toward the inn, the car breaks down and the girls have to go to the murder cabin. Hanna calls Travis to tow them out.
Hanna is mysteriously weird toward the journal, discounting the stories that each person read. It turns out that one of the stories, “The Cradle Robber” is about Hanna. Before Ali went missing, Hanna kissed Aria’s brother, Mike. Ali told her that Aria would hate her if she found out. So Hanna kept it bottled up. Aria said that she wasn’t mad.
Hanna finally tells the girls that Caleb left her. They all make her feel better and do best friend things. It is sweet.
When Travis finally picks her up and drives Hanna home, they are talking at her house and she finally cries. Travis says that they are friends. I feel like the PLL writers are setting up a romance between Travis and Hanna. I’m Team Caleb/Hanna. So I will not positively review this Travis/Hanna romance.
What is with the girls falling for people that are shady?
Aria: Ezra and Aria are back together and Aria is lying to her friends about it again. When she sneaks into his classroom to leave a note, Spencer is curious. Aria says that she is leaving a pen for him. Spencer wisely says “You are in love with Ezra. You like Jake.” Aria awkwardly ends the conversation.
When the girls get into the murder cabin, Aria lies and says that the cabin is her uncle’s. When Ezra calls her, she lies and says it is Jake. Aria is just lying up a storm. When Spencer is cold, she and Aria head into the laundry room and are locked in. When they look out the keyhole, they find that A followed them there and locked them in. They bang on the door and yell out the window for Emily and Hanna to save them. When Emily and Hanna finally get in, A and Ali’s diary is gone.
You know, the diary that they had completely decoded? So now A is another step ahead.
Emily: Emily’s story is especially sad this episode. Just last episode she said that she was mad at Ali. She said that Ali didn’t know how to love. But, when Emily was reading Ali’s diary, it made her mushy. She had a dream (or was it real?) where Ali came into her room. Ali said that Emily always saw the best version of her. She said that she risked everything for Emily when she saved her life twice. She then stated something curious: “I bet you’re wondering which one is real. The girl in front of you or the girl who wrote that.”
Ali points out that Emily still wears her bracelet that Ali gave to her. But, then Emily wakes up and Ali is gone. Emily’s Emily bracelet is back in her jewelry box and not on her wrist. Weird.
When Emily is at work, she finds a note in her backpack that says “I want to come home. Meet me at our spot.” So, Emily takes off and goes to the kissing rock. She waits and waits. Ali doesn’t show up. I hope that was something that A planted because if Ali did that to Emily then that is just cold.
While Emily is waiting, someone is watching her. Was it Ali? Was it A? Who knows?
Spencer: Spencer, not surprisingly, had family drama. The Hastings family is just filled with drama. Remember how Toby found out that his mom didn’t commit suicide. Spencer’s dad “looked into it” and found that she wasn’t murdered either. It was an accident. Another patient was there and they lied to protect that patient.
Spencer’s dad didn’t tell Toby because he cancelled on him. He said that he was in mediation when really he spent the day with Ali’s mom. When Spencer caught him, she went off on him. She said that he told her to stay away from Mrs. DiLaurentis while he was spending time with her? He told her that Mrs. DiLaurentis was getting a divorce and he was helping.
Spencer, being the headstrong gal that she is, followed Mrs. DiLaurentis and told her to stay away from her father. She made a scene and said to find a lawyer that she hadn’t “slept with.” So there’s that.
Because of that, Spencer’s dad said that, as long as Spencer lives in his house, she can’t talk to Mrs. DiLaurentis. So, Spencer moves in with Toby. Because that is what kids do these days. When they don’t want to do what their parents want, they move out. Ok.
Ezra: So Ezra has become super weird. When Aria went to talk to him, he was listening to tapes of Ali being scared, arguing with someone. Who listens to that at school? He has to have some free time. When he realized that the girls had Ali’s diary, he followed them around. I mean, seriously, he has completely changed since it has been revealed that he was A. He is outrageously scary.
Because he saw Hanna put the diary in her bag, after the girls left to go to The Busy Bee Inn, he showed up at Hanna’s house and lied to her mother. He said that he let Hanna on a break since she was having such a difficult time. However, it turns out that she is failing his class so he needed to show up at her house, late at night to tell her? When Ashley got a call, Ezra dug through Hanna’s room, unable to find Ali’s diary. So, he heads for her computer and does sneaky things to that.
If Ezra isn’t careful, he is going to be caught. It looks like next week people are going to point out what shady he has been acting.
A: A was a busy bee this episode. I am unsure if the A actions this episode was from Ezra or another A character. Nevertheless, A reprogrammed Emily’s GPS to lead them toward the murder cabin and probably messed with her car too. A also watched as Emily pathetically waited for Ali to show up at the Kissing Rock. A leaving that note for Emily was just mean. It completely led her on and broke her heart. Who does that?
So what did you think of the episode? Are you excited for a potential Hanna/Travis romance? And, do you think Ezra's cabin is romantic or creepy? Lemme know below!
