Prince Harry has decided to quit his role as an Apache helicopter pilot and is taking a staff officer desk job. This will allow him to get in some more Royal duties as his grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, takes a less hectic schedule.
Harry has served twice in Afghanistan and will still be known as Captain Wales in the military. He will also stay a Commissioned Officer in the Household Cavalry. However, he will now be stationed in HQ London District to “significant projects and commemorative events involving the Army in London,” the Royal family said, notes The Daily Mail.
Lt. Col. Tom de la Rue praised Harry’s service, reports USA Today. “Captain Wales has reached the pinnacle of flying excellence as an Apache pilot, particularly in Afghanistan and, in the process, has proved to be a real inspiration to the many Army Air Corps officers and soldiers who have come to know him so well over the last two years,” he said in a statement.
Harry can also spend more time with his girlfriend, Cressida Bonas. There had been rumors that they had broken up, but E! News notes that they were seen at a restaurant in Kensington together Monday.
In other Harry news, the fourth in line to the throne, has finally shaved the beard he grew while in Antarctica, reports Us Weekly.
