Rashida Jones has found her first TV role after she leaves NBC’s Parks and Recreation. The actress has agreed to star in a TBS pilot called Tribeca, which comes from her former Office co-star, Steve Carell.
Tribeca is a police satire Carell is writing with his wife, Nancy. He will also direct the pilot, which will introduce the Los Angeles Police Department’s Really Heinous Crimes Unit (RHCU). The group of officers try their best to solve crimes, but unintentionally let their personal lives get in the way.
According to E! News, Jones will play Angie Tribeca, a 10-year veteran of the RHCU. She likes to work alone, but has suddenly been assigned a partner. Production will begin in February or March in LA.
Jones’ character is leaving Parks and Recreation after six seasons on the show. Her final episode airs on Jan. 30 and it will also be Rob Lowe’s last.
Jones, who is the daughter of famed record producer Quincy Jones, is also active on the other side of the camera as a writer and producer. She and her Celeste and Jesse Forever co-writer, Will McCormack, are developing several pilots, including NBC’s A To Z.
