At a tribute concert on Monday night at the El Rey Theatre in Los Angeles, Ringo Starr accepted a special award from the David Lynch Foundation. The Award was called the Peace and Love Award.
This was a fitting award for the superstar. According to Billboard, David Lynch said, "Everybody loves Ringo. Not just because he's a Beatle, not just because he's one of the tastiest drummers ever, but because he radiates that peace and love."
The David Lynch Foundation sponsors the “Change Begins Within” benefit, according to The Huffington Post. The Foundation provides meditation training and scholarships to at-risk youth, veterans, and domestic violence victims.
David Lynch is best known for his moviesMulholland Drive and Blue Velvet. His documentary, Meditation, Creativity, and Peace, was released in 2012. On the small screen, he was known for his popular television series, Twin Peaks. He is celebrating his 68th birthday.
Starr will appear at the Grammy Awards this year with fellow award winning Beatle, Paul McCartney. The Grammys will take place on Sunday, Jan. 26.
