Ruth Robinson Duccini, one of the Munchkins form the classic 1939 film The Wizard of Oz has died. She was 95.
According to The Washington Posthref>, Duccini was the last living female Munchkin from the film.
A total of 124 little people played Munchkins on the film. The Los Angeles Timeshref> reported that, as of Duccini’s death, the only former Munchkin left alive is Jerry Maren, 93, who played a member of the Lollipop Guild.
ABC News said that Duccini was born in Rush City, Minn. in 1918. She was cast in The Wizard of Oz after traveling to California with a troupe of other little people. She went uncredited for her role.
“It was long hours and heavy costumes. We didn’t have much time for ourselves. It was all new to me then, and I loved being a part of what is now a classic,” Duccini said in a statement about her time on set.
Duccini died of natural causes at a hospice in Las Vegas.
