The CW announced a trio of new projects at the Television Critics Association Press Tour today. These include a four-hour miniseries called Labyrinth and two new reality competition shows. A digital sequel to Veronica Mars was also announced.
Labyrinth stars John Hurt, Sebastian Stan, Jessica Brown-Findlay and Tom Felton, notes TheWrap. It was filmed in France and South Africa, focusing on women separated by centuries but united by a search for the Holy Grail. The network didn’t say when it will premiere.
The first of the two reality shows is set in the competitive world of barber shops. Deadline reports that the 10 episodes will feature shops around the country. It’s being hosted by Cedric the Entertainer, but no other details were revealed. He is executive producing with Mark Efman.
Penn & Teller: Fool Us is a nine-episode series starring famous magicians Penn & Teller. Magicians will try to fool the masters to get an opportunity to perform during their Las Vegas show. It’s a British production, with British personality Jonathan Ross hosting and 117 Productions and September Films producing originally for ITV.
Finally, Entertainment Weekly reports that a Veronica Mars digital spinoff was announced and... that’s it. No further details were given as the deal was just completed. It should air on CW Seed and creator Rob Thomas is working on the project.
