The 40th annual People's Choice Awards won the night for CBS, but lost ground in the 18-49 demographic from last year. Meanwhile, Chicago P.D. had a fairly decent premiere in the 10 p.m. time slot.
For Wednesday night, CBS took first in both the demo and viewers with a 2.1 rating and 8.86 million viewers, reports HitFix. The network started the evening off with two encores of 2 Broke Girls, which brought in a 1.6 in the demo. People was up to 10.2 million viewers, but slightly down from the previous year with a 2.3 in the demo.
NBC came second thanks to a tie in the demo with ABC at a 1.9 rating and 7.82 million viewers. Revolution managed a 1.6 in the demo and Law & Order: SVU followed with a 2.1 demo rating. Chicago P.D. premiered to strong numbers with a 2.0 in the demo and 8.56 million viewers.
ABC was right behind NBC with 5.95 million viewers, but did stay even in the demo, according to The Hollywood Reporter. The Middle increased slightly in the demo with 2.2 and Super Fun Night dropped to a series low in the demo with a 1.5, a second episode followed half an hour later and managed a better 1.8. Modern Family pulled the demo numbers back up to a 3.5.
The Will Ferrell comedy Step Brothers was played on Fox for the evening and brought in 2.9 million viewers and a 1.2 in the demo. The CW played repeats for the night and lagged behind everyone with 1.1million viewers and a 0.4 in the 18-49 demo.
