With the help from dedicated fans, Veronica Mars is in the final stages of production on a feature length film, it seems that as a result of that success and fan dedication, the series will now be getting a web series spin off.

Wired reported that the spinoff will be airing on CW’s online channel CW Seed.

The president of CW announced the news at the Television Critics Association Press Tour. He describe the web series as being six to eight episodes each lasting around ten minutes or so. The show was originally pitched by Mars creator Rob Thomas and Warner Bros. Digital.

Variety added that no details have been released about the project yet, at this point it is unclear if the web series will start before or after the film is set to be released on March 14.

No information has been released on which characters or actors will be featured in the series.

The Kickstarter campaign for Mars raised over $5.7 million from fans to make the feature film.
