Curtis Lepore, a celebrity on the video sharing platform 'Vine', was brought to court Tuesday for allegedly raping his ex-girlfriend and fellow internet megastar, Jessie Smiles. Smiles was reportedly recovering from a concussion during the sexual assault.
According to Gawker ,Lepore offered to help take care of Smiles after she suffered a minor concussion during a Vine video shoot. Lepore supposedly raped Smiles while she was sleeping. Originally arrested in October for the crime, Lepore was released on $100,000 bail and pleaded not guilty at Tuesday's court hearing, says TMZ .
The two internet sensations originally displayed their mutual love publicly for their amassed total of 6 million fans. The couple split soon after their relationship started and remained on good terms, according to Heavy .
When confronted with questions about the rape allegations, Lepore's lawyer defended his defendant's innocence, telling TMZ , "Things are not always as they appear and there are two sides to every story."
