Zac Efron has a new movie coming out, which means that he will have to deal with questions from the media about his rehab stint last year. Efron said that he’s never been happier since the experience and that he’s in a ‘great place.’
While promoting That Awkward Moment on the Today Show Tuesday morning, Efron said that he is “in the best place I've ever been.”
“I've never been this happy before, and I'm extraordinarily grateful for (my co-stars) guys and to be here promoting this movie and - I don't know, things are good. Thank you for asking,” he told Savannah Guthrie, reports CNN.
During another interview, this time with People, Efron made it clear that he is doing much better. "I'm so happy,” the 26-year-old said. “I feel like I'm in a great place and I'm glad that I'm really here to share this moment with everybody and be present for all of it.”
Efron said that he learned so much in the past year. “The best part of it was being able to reflect upon that experience and realize how much I have learned about myself and the kind of man I want to be,” he told the magazine.
The former High School Musical star has taken on more serious roles as of late, like The Lucky One and Parkland. That Awkward Moment is lighter material and co-stars Michael B. Jordan and Miles Teller, who were both with him on Today.
“This movie, these guys and coming back to it and to New York – just being here in this moment, it just kind of exemplifies it,” Efron told People. “I couldn't be happier. I'm in a great place.”
That Awkward Moment opens on Jan. 31.
