About to send the kids off to school, and to Joel’s new place for the weekend, Julia has bought the kids new backpacks. Joel awkwardly knocks at the door and Victor seems much happier about the weekend than Sydney does. The only exchange between Joel and Julia is a quick, “Have a good weekend.”
Still at his parent’s house, Crosby opens the door and meets Zeek and Camille’s realtor Karen. Unfortunately, this is how Crosby finds out about his parent’s house going up for sale.
Amy walks with Drew to his class. Drew tells her he has a lab after his class, and she just states she’ll go to the student center and meet him after. Drew seems uneasy with Amy still there with him, not having told her parents about anything yet.
Joel takes the kids to his new apartment, pleasing Victor with a large TV and video games. Joel buys a bracelet kit for Sydney but she states she’s too old for that now. Joel shows them the pool, and tells them he bought them bathing suits so they can go in.
Using a gift certificate for a trip up to Mendacino, Adam and Kristina relax in a hot tub. Adam abruptly says he has to make a phone call to work, but instead makes a call to Julia to make sure his younger sister is doing OK with the kids gone for the weekend.
Hank and Sarah go over the pictures from the shoot, disagreeing on which ones are good and which ones are “not usable” and the pictures with the taco truck in the background aren’t very good. Sarah tells Hank that she has to leave, and Hank guesses that she’s going out with Carl.
Drew runs into Natalie in the dorm halls, and she confronts him about blowing her off, and Amy always being around. Just as he’s about to answer, Amy opens the door to his room and says hi.
Crosby’s family and his parents sit down for dinner and Crosby confronts his parents about selling the house, asking how they can “sell it out from under us.” Camille tells him it’s their house, and their decision, at which point Crosby and his Dad have a bit of a stare down.
Sarah and Carl eat at a taco truck stand. Carl was inspired by her photo of the taco truck in her shoot. He tells her that he really likes her, and how kind she is and how much he likes that she thinks about her family.
Julia lies awake in her bed, looking at the clock reading it is 1am. Trying to comfort herself without the kids, she climbs into Sydney’s bed to try and get some sleep.
Sarah calls Julia the next morning to check in on her. Julia states that it is too quiet without anyone there, wishing the weekend to be over. Sarah asks if Julia wants to go for lunch later, and Julia states she’ll let her know.
Drew goes to Amber for some advice on what to do with Amy. He admits he loves her but that she needs to go back to school. Amber states you can love someone but want them to go away.
Sarah works with Hank on the photos and realizes Hank already photoshopped the taco truck out of many of the pictures. Sarah’s upset, admitting some of them look better without it, but is still angry that Hank is doing his own thing, not actually collaborating with her.
Still away at the spa, Adam and Kristina enjoy a mud bath together. Adam states it’s nice to relax, that they’ve been through a lot the past couple years. Kristina tells him “thank you”, and that she doesn’t think she really ever thanked him for everything he’s done. Adam tells her she doesn’t have to thank him.
As Zeek looks for tools in his work room, Crosby confronts him about selling the house, angry at first and then just asking what is going on. Zeek explains that when Camille went to Europe that he missed her too much, and that if selling the house will make her happy than that’s what he is going to do.
Kristina and Adam hike up a hill, and when they stop to look at the view, Adam looks at his phone. Kristina asks if everything is OK and Adam admits to calling and worrying about Julia. Kristina tells him that is fine, and they should head home.
Hank visits the Aspergers specialist, stating it was an emergency but when Hank explains his trouble is with editing the photos, making Sarah angry, the doctor tells him this isn’t really an emergency. As the doctor tries to talk to Hank about making eye contact and to listen, Hank is looking at his phone. Hank realizes what he is doing and the doctor coaches him how he can apologize to Sarah.
At Joel’s apartment, he and the kids are having pizza for dinner. Joel lays out the plans to the kids for the following day, Sunday, and Sydney is upset that they are staying the whole day. She thought they were going home in the morning and tells her Dad that it isn’t fair.
Hank goes to see Sarah, and tries to recite back what the doctor told him. Knowing it sounds rehearsed, Sarah asks what is going on. Hank explains seeing the doctor and states he’s trying to learn and be better around her.
Drew talks to Amy about talking to her parents. He tells her that he talked to his Mom about the pregnancy, and that it felt good to talk to someone about it. He tells her he loves her but she needs to stop hiding.
Julia begins to microwave a potato when she receives a text. She opens the door and Sarah comes in with a bottle of wine and Chinese food. Having the same thought, a minute later Crosby comes in with a bottle of wine and Tai food.
Almost two bottles of wine down, and still lots of food left, Adam comes through the door. Julia cries and thanks them for being there. Trying to lighten up the mood, Adam turns up the music and starts a Braverman dance party.
Drew drops Amy off at home, giving her a pep talk, telling her that it will be OK. He kisses her good-bye.
Zeek, Camille, Amber and Jabbar makes smores at the fire pit, and Drew comes over to join them.
Victor wakes up in the middle of the night and realizes Sydney is not in bed. He goes to Joel’s room, where he finds her in bed with him. Victor takes Joel’s cell phone and calls Julia, stating he had a bad dream and wants her to talk with him. She talks with him, moving throughout the house, checking on her siblings who’ve crashed there. As she tells him it will become less scary, she realizes Victor has fallen asleep. She curls up on the couch where Adam is sleeping.
