14 NBA All-Star Game took to New Orleans on Sunday night, resulting in the highest scoring game in All-Star history. The Eastern Conference came out on top, defeating the West 163-155.
USA Today reports that the East came back from an 18 point deficit in the third quarter to win the game. Kyrie Irving of the Cavaliers lead the East to its victory, earning 15 of his 31 total points in just the fourth quarter. The comeback run named Irving the MVP of the game.
“I wanted him to have his moment and the moment is to hold that trophy over your head. It’s one of the few moments in our game like that,” Lebron James said of Irving’s MVP title.
According to NBC Sports, the game presented a major lack of defensive play. Western Conference coach Scott Brooks confessed to reporters that he did not make defense part of the focus for his team.
“They played it enough. It’s an All-Star Game,” said Brooks. “I marvel at their talents for them to come together after about 15 minutes of practice and do a great job of playing with each other.”
Other game highlights included 38 points each from Blake Griffin and Kevin Durant and a huge dunk by James.
