A&E has announced that the cable network has ordered an additional 18 episodes of new reality show Wahlburgers after seeing a strong return in the ratings.
The show, based around Mark and Donnie Wahlberg's Boston restaurant Wahlburgers with the rest of their family, including Paul Wahlberg and their mother Alma, was given an initial order of nine episodes for the series, reports Deadline.
The reality series uses the slightly struggling - at least compared to previous seasons - Duck Dynasty as a lead in and has managed to see consistent viewership growth during its first three weeks. The show has been averaging about 3.5 million total viewers. So A&E decided not to waste any time and get more episodes filmed.
A&E general manager and executive vp David McKillop said, according to The Hollywood Reporter, "Viewers are responding to the heartwarming dynamics of Boston's first family as they balance living in the Hollywood spotlight and growing a business."
McKillop added that he is excited for whatever the show will bring viewers next.
