Alec Baldwin says he’s gone for good…again.
In a new essay published in New York magazine, as reported by the New York Daily News , Baldwin writes about his desire to be out of the spotlight and how quickly dissatisfied he has become with living in New York, a place he’s called home for the last 30 years.
“I just can’t live in New York anymore. Everything I hated about L.A. I’m beginning to crave … I want my newest child to have as normal and decent a life as I can provide. New York doesn’t seem the place for that anymore,” the actor wrote in the New York magazine cover story.
Baldwin expressed similar sentiment about exiting public life last November, as E! Online noted, when a TMZ photographer accused him of using a homophobic remark towards him. It was during the same time that his new MSNBC talk show, Up Late, was struggling in the ratings. Not long after the incident, Baldwin’s show was canceled.
In response to the homophobic allegations, Baldwin writes “look, I work in show business. I am awash in gay people, as colleagues and friends … I am not a homophobic person at all. But this is how the world now sees me.”
Baldwin, 55, and his wife, yoga instructor Hilaria Thomas, 30, have been married since June 2012. Their daughter Carmen was born in August 2013.
