One day after thick fog kept the men off the hill, the snowboardcross event was completed on Tuesday and Team USA picked up a bronze medal.

USA Today has reported that Alex Deibold came in third, earning the bronze. Russia's Nikolay Olyunin took the silver and Pierre Vaultier of France won the gold medal.

As the Associated Press pointed out, it’s been quite a journey for Deibold who went from a snowboard waxer to a snowboardcross racer competing in an Olympic event.

"To be sitting here in front of you guys, stand on the podium today and wrap that flag around myself," the 27-year-old said, "all that sacrifice and hard work doesn't seem like a damn thing."

Deibold grew up in Vermont and was an Olympic technician four years ago in Vancouver. Now, however, he proved he’s a great competitor and can worry about waxing the new hardware he received instead of snowboards.

His win gives the U.S. 19 medals thus far.
