Alex Rodriguez is ending his fight over his doping suspension and will be dropping his lawsuits directed at the Major League Baseball league, the players' union and commissioner Bud Selig.

The New York Yankee player's lawyer confirmed the announcement, which effectively means that Rodriguez will for sure sit out the upcoming 2014 season, reports The New York Times.

The MLB released a statement saying, "We believe that Mr. Rodriguez's actions show his desire to return the focus to the play of our great game on the field."

According to the Los Angeles Times, Rodriguez filed lawsuits in January after an arbitrator on the case reduced his sentence, but still comprised the whole upcoming season, as well as the playoffs.

Rodriguez had been suspended in the aftermath of the Biogenesis scandal and also for "attempting to cover up his violations" of MLB's drug policy. His Wikimedia Commons
