American Idol has not been surviving well compared to the Winter Olympics coverage on NBC. The singing competition hit an all time low in the ratings on Thursday night.

The Olympics on Thursday night had 19.9 million viewers which earned a 4.9 rating. Idol only had 9.2 million viewers and a 2.4 rating, which is an all time low for the series, Entertainment Weekly reported.

Most networks ran reruns during the recent Sochi Olympics coverage.

These ratings for Idol showed a large decrease in viewers from last week and the night before. The night before they had 8% more of the viewing audience tuning into the show, Deadline reported.

This season of Idol features new judges, Jennifer Lopez, Keith Urban and Harry Connick Jr. The show also changed some of the formatting and performances from previous seasons but the recent changes have not yet shown an increase in numbers with viewers.

Idol will now have to deal with NBC bringing back The Voice on Monday and Tuesdays.
