The Atlanta Braves just announced Sunday morning that pitcher, Craig Kimbrel, has signed a deal worth $42 million. This contract will keep him in a Braves uniform through the 2017 season. The four-year contract also includes an option for the 2018 season.

Part of the contract included a $1 million signing bonus. The Braves can now focus on spring training since Kimbrel was the last player eligible for arbitration.

The Braves are excited to keep their ace closer around for at least four more seasons. According to ESPN, Braves general manager Frank Wren said, "We are very excited to agree to terms with Craig, who we feel is the best closer in Major League Baseball.

Kimbrel is definitely worth the big bucks that he was rewarded. According to FOX Sports, during 2013 from May 9-Sept. 10, spanning 45 appearances Kimbrel surrendered just one earned run and collected 35 saves.

Kimbrel, 25, is an Alabama native who wanted to remain close to home. The closer won the National League Rookie of the Year award for his phenomenal pitching in 2011.
