Sam Worthington was arrested in New York City after getting into an altercation with paparazzo, Li Shang. Worthington came to his girlfriend, Lara Bingle’s defense when Shang kicked her in the shin.
The Avatar star, 37, punched Shang in the face and sources say both Worthington and Bingle were bloody by the time fight was broken up.
According to E! Online, the altercation took place outside of Benny's Burritos in Greenwich Village. He was arrested on an assault charge and the photographer was arrested for assault, reckless endangermen and harassment.
TMZ reports Worthington is out on a bail and will have to appear in court but Shang is still in police custody as of Monday.
Worthington and Bingle have long been rumored to be a couple but have just gone public with their relationship. They’ve been out wearing matching rings and Bingle even posted a revealing photo of the two on Valentine’s Day on Instagram, writing "My heart. His heart.”
