Avatar star Sam Worthington was arraigned in court on Feb. 26 for assault and harassment charges and then received a restraining order after hitting a photographer last weekend.
E! Online details how Worthington was charged with two counts of assault in the third degree as well as one count of harassment. Worthington reportedly punched a photographer named Sheng Li outside of a New York city restaurant, after Li kicked Worthington's girlfriend Lara Bingle. Worthington, also was given a restraining order to contact or communicate with Li. if Worthington is found guilty on the charges he faces a maximum sentence of spending one year in jail.
The Page Six reveals how Worthington claimed he was only trying to protect Bingle. However, Li claims that Bingle hit him first. This isn't Worthington's first brush with the law. Back in 2012, he was arrested for disorderly conduct after he got into an quarrel with a doorman when he was trying to enter a restaurant in Atlanta.
