Ben McKenzie likes being on the good side of the law. Since playing the role of troubled teenager, Ryan Atwood in the series The O.C., McKenzie played rookie police officer in the series, Southland. Now McKenzie has been cast for the lead role of James Gordon in the Fox series, Gotham reported by the E! Online. The series will take place around experiences of Gordon before he became the main alley to Batman and famous police commissioner.
The show is also set to feature the beginnings of many of the villains who faced Bruce Wayne’s superhero alter ego according to the L.A. Times. The role of James Gordon was played by Gary Oldman in the Batman trilogy. Bruno Heller will be the executive producer of the show.
After Warner Bros. Television confirmed the news Saturday, McKenzie shared his excitement and assurance to not let fans down on Twitter by tweeting, “All I can promise is I will do my best not to screw this up. Can’t wait to get to work.”
