Bethenny Frankel’s syndicated talk show has been cancelled after only one season. The show, simply titled Bethenny, was produced by Telepictures Productions and counted Ellen DeGeneres as one of its executive producers.
Despite featuring the Real Housewives of New York star, the show had a difficult time competing with other popular talk shows. TheWrap notes that it only averaged a 0.9 household rating, which placed it behind shows like Arsenio and Trisha. It managed just a 0.7 rating in the key 25-54 women demographic and 1.1 million viewers total per episode. That’s far below Queen Latifah's 1.5 million average and DeGeneres’ 3.9 million average.
“While we are disappointed not to be able to bring the series back for a second season, we remain convinced that Bethenny has a unique voice and that she will continue to be successful in the future,” Telepictures stated.
“I had a blast doing this show with Telepictures,” Frankel said in a statement, notes Deadline. “My entire staff worked so hard and made everyday so much fun. I am thankful for the experience and for all my fans who tuned in every day.”
The current daytime talk show season will also see the end of Katie Couric’s Katie. Meredith Vieira will join the talk show realm next season.
