Blake Shelton responds to Cee-Lo Green's decision to leave The Voice.
Many people were surprised when Green announced that he will not be returning to The Voice, even fellow judge Blake Shelton.
Yahoo! Music reports that Shelton knew the decision would come, but is still saddened by the news.
"I can understand," Shelton told a Nashville radio station. "... he probably feels like he's done his time on a reality show and he's ready to go do a puppet show, or whatever he's got in mind next. I'm not surprised that he moves on. It makes me sad, though."
Though Shelton knew the decision was coming, he admits that he still hoped Green would come back.
"I knew what the network was doing with the changing coaches in and out, but... in the back of my mind, I guess I hoped that CeeLo would be back," Shelton said.
CNN reported that Green revealed his decision on The Ellen DeGeneres Show on Wednesday.
"The Voice has been an immensely enjoyable experience for me and I can only hope I have enriched the lives of our viewers, the contestants, and the many friends I made there," Green wrote on his website.
The Voice will return Feb. 24 at 8 p.m. on NBC. Shelton and Adam Levine will return as judges along with Shakira and Usher who replace Christina Aguilera and Green.
There is no news yet on who NBC will choose to replace Green, but his wild antics and even wilder style will always be remembered.
