Rock 'n' roll star and director Rob Zombie will combine forces with American Psycho author and screenwriter Bret Easton Ellis to create a limited television series about the notorious Manson family murders of the late 1960s.
According to Vanity, Manson and his followers were convicted for high-profile murders in the Los Angeles area in 1969, including the death of actress Sharon Tate and her unborn child, along with Hollywood hairstylist Jay Sebring. Zombie has always found the gruesome tale fascinating and his excited to work with Ellis on the project.
“I have been obsessed with this insane story since I was a kid, so obviously I jumped at the chance to be involved in this incredible project. After speaking with Bret, I immediately realized that we shared the same vision for this epic madness,” mentioned Zombie.
Rolling Stone reports that the series will highlight varying and intertwining points of view around the tragic events. Zombie came up with the idea with Madhouse Entertainment, and brought it to Ellis and Alcon’s Sharon Hall for further consideration.
Ellis will write the script while Zombie directs, though the project is still in early development and has yet to receive a green light.
