Cate Blanchett dedicated her BAFTA award to the late Philip Seymour Hoffman on Sunday, providing a tear-jerker moment.
The Blue Jasmine star won the award for Best Actress. She previously worked with the Oscar-winning actor in The Talented Mr. Ripley back in 1999.
"I would like to dedicate this to an actor who has been a continual, profound touchstone for me, a monumental presence who is now so sadly in absence: the late, great Philip Seymour Hoffman,” Blanchett said onstage, Us Weekly reports.
She continued, "Phil, your monumental talent, your unflinching quest for truth both in art and in life will be missed by so many people. You raised the bar continually. Phil, buddy, this is for you, you bastard. Hope you're proud."
Daily News notes Hoffman died on Feb. 2 at the age of 46 after relapsing. He was found with empty heroin bags nearby and a needle in his arm.
The day after Hoffman’s death, Blanchett was photographed visiting his partner Mimi O’Donnell and the three children they share. She was carrying bags full of toys for the children.
