Actor and director Philip Seymour Hoffman started his acting career in 1991 when he appeared on televisions Law & Order. Since then he has appeared in a generous amount of popular films including Boogie Nights, The Talented Mr. Ripley, Almost Famous, Capote, Charlie Wilson's War, Doubt, Moneyball, and most recently The Hunger Games franchise. Hoffman also took part in numerous theater roles including Othello, Death of a Salesman, and Jack Goes Boating in 2007, for which he also made his directorial debut with a film version in 2010.
Hoffman has won an Academy Award for Best Actor for his role in . He has also received Academy Awards nominations for his supporting roles in Charlie Wilson's War, Doubt, and The Master.
Hoffman was found dead in his Manhattan apartment Sunday, Feb. 2, from an apparent overdose. He leaves behind his wife, Mimi O'Donnell, a son, and two daughters. As news broke worldwide, many celebrities took to Twitter to express their sadness, and take time to remember Philip Seymour Hoffman.
