Celebrities expressed deep emotions over the death of comedian, Sid Caesar.

The comedy pioneer died at age 91 in Los Angeles. Known as one of the first comedians to have a variety show on American television, Sid Caesar delighted audiences with characters like his Professor, speaking jibberish.

According to the Associated Press, Caesar’s longtime collaborator Carl Reiner said, “From my vantage point, which was sometimes no further than an inch from his face, and one time nose on nose, he was inarguably the greatest pantomimist, monologist and single sketch comedian who ever worked in television.”

Known to have worked with Mel Brooks, Woody Allen, and many other comedians, Sid Caesar was inspiring to many comedy writers. According to Reuters, Brooks said, "Sid Caesar was a giant, maybe the best comedian who ever practiced the trade. And I was privileged to be one of his writers and one of his friends."

Caesar had a wide fan base, and paved the way for new comedians. Joan Rivers said, “He was one of the greats. When you watch him today, he still makes you laugh like he did 60 years ago."
