CNN has decided to end Piers Morgan's primetime show likely in March.
According to Business Insider, CNN spokesperson Meghan McPartland confirmed that "Piers Morgan Live is ending. The date of the final program is still to be determined," she said in a statement Sunday night.
The show started in 2011, when Morgan took over the 9 p.m. timeslot for Larry King. The ratings have plummeted recently. February has produced six out of ten of the lowest ratings the show has seen.
According to The New York Times, some feel that Morgan's British views didn't match up with the American topics. Morgan discussed this issue with The New York Times' David Carr.
"Look, I am a British guy debating American cultural issues, including guns, which has been very polarizing, and there is no doubt that there are many in the audience who are tired of me banging about it. That's run it's course and Jeff and I have been talking for some time about different ways of using me," he said in the interview.
Morgan's contract with CNN is set to end in September, but it is unclear what role he will play on the network.
