Racecar driver, Danica Patrick, responds to the bold comments made by racing hero, Richard Petty during media week for the upcoming Daytona 500. Surprisingly, Patrick did not seem to be offended by the harsh comments made by “The King.”
When Petty was asked if Patrick would ever win a race he responded by saying, “Only if everybody stayed home.” He went on to infer that the only reason people even know about her is because she is female, not because of her racing talent.
Patrick shrugged the comments off as simply being Petty’s own opinion. According to reuters Patrick said, “You know, people have said things in the past and they will say things in the future. I still say the same thing, and that's that everybody is entitled to their own opinion.”
Patrick has yet to win a race but has acquired massive popularity from various commercials and for being the only female driver in NASCAR.
According to OrlandoSentinel Patrick and Petty have not spoken to each other about the comments.
