Despite Carmelo’s 44 points, the Knicks didn’t take the win Monday night against the Dallas Mavericks.

Mavericks star player Dirk Nowitzki took a 19-foot jumper right at the buzzer for the win notes ESPN. The final score was 110-108. Nowitzki called the shot “ . . . probably the ugliest game-winner I ever shot,” reported CBS.

The winning shot came after the Mavericks blew their lead in the final minute of the game notes CBS. With the win, the Mavericks move to seventh place in the Western Conference, keeping them in the playoff run.

The loss was a difficult one for the Knicks who just came back to the Garden after losing on the road to Orlando and Atlanta notes ESPN.

“You look at the last three games . . . we’ve held leads . . . and we can’t close it out. That’s mind-boggling to me,” said Knicks Coach Mike Woodson according to NY Daily News.

The Knicks are currently 11th in the Eastern Conference with little hope for a playoff run. The Knicks take on Miami Heat next on Thursday.
