New York is soon to become the latest home for superheroes. It was announced on Wednesday that the latest Netflix series featuring Marvel comic superheroes will be filmed in the City in a deal with the governor of New York and Disney.
The CEO of Disney, Bob Iger, and Governor Andrew Cuomo revealed that the state had set aside $4 million to fit the needs of the series in Time Square reported The Wrap. However the residents of New York should benefit from the new show. The series should create about 3,000 jobs, with 400 of them being full-time jobs. As a result the state of New York should generate $2.11 billion in spending with the production.
The series will be featured on Netflix and will consist of a minimum of 60 1-hour-long episodes. The first 13 episodes will focus on the character of “Daredevil”, the next, “Jessica Jones,” followed by “Iron Fist,” and “Luke Cage,” according to the New York Daily News.
It was announced last fall that “Netflix members deep into the gritty world of heroes and villains of Hell’s Kitchen, New York,” however at the time no location had been decided. Numerous cities worked to attract the project with Toronto coming in as second to New York.
