The Philadelphia Eagles and their star left tackle, Jason Peters, have a agreed to a contract extension Wednesday.

Peters' contract was set to expire after the 2014 season and this deal keeps him in Philadelphia through 2018 season, ProFootballTalk reports.

The deal is four years long and worth $41.3 million with $19.55 million of that being guaranteed money, according to ESPN.

Peters has been a very key part of the Eagles' offensive line during his time in Philadelphia. He was a starter for all of the Eagles' games in the 2013 season and was the leader of the offensive line that was key to both running back LeSean McCoy and quarterback Nick Foles' great success in 2013.

Peters has had a very successful NFL career thus far playing left tackle. Peters is a six-time pro bowler and was named to the first team all-pro twice in his 10 year NFL career. He was originally signed as an undrafted free agent by the Buffalo Bills as a tight end in 2004 and switched over to play left tackle, according to ESPN. The Eagles acquired Peters via trade in 2009.

This is a very smart move by the Eagles, it keeps one of their key players with them for many more years.
