Green Bay Packers running back Eddie Lacy was voted Offensive Rookie of the Year by the NFL with 35 votes, beating out San Diego Chargers wide receiver Keenan Allen. Allen received 12 votes.
According to CBSSports, Lacy rushed for 1,178 yards on 284 carries, giving him a 4.1 yards per carry average despite getting a concussion against the Redskins in Week 2 and missing the Packers' next game against the Bengals.
Lacy also rushed for 11 touchdowns and had 35 receptions. He was a key component to the Packers' offense, which had to adjust to life without star quarterback Aaron Rodgers for seven games after he broke his collarbone, according to ABCNews.
Lacy also endured injuries of his own even when he returned from his concussion. He played through an ankle injury through much of the season and had defenses game planning against him with Rodgers out of the way.
Lacy's production was enough to help the Packers win their third consecutive NFC North championship with an 8-7-1 record, and he was the first Packer to win Offensive Rookie of the Year since John Brockington won it in 1971.
