Ahead of Sunday’s Oscars hosting gig, Ellen DeGeneres made some startling revelations that may surprise some of her fans.
The Ellen DeGeneres Show host started her career with acting, and she revealed that she beat out former Friends star, Jennifer Aniston, for a role in 1999. She also revealed Sandra Bullock’s role in Miss Congeniality was based off of her.
In the March issue of Parade, DeGeneres opened up about beating out Aniston for a supporting role in EdTV, which starred Matthew McConaughey and Woody Harrelson.
“Jen Aniston is my friend and she recently ¬reminded me that I beat her out of that,” she said. “I got the part and Jen Aniston didn’t! That’ll probably be the only time that happens.”
As for Miss Congeniality, DeGeneres revealed it was “written based on me,” E! Online reports.
“When I was getting ready to cohost the Emmys, the writer saw me learning how to walk in a dress and heels. My stylist at the time—a man—was teaching me, and it was hilarious. The Miss Congeniality writer saw it and thought it was brilliant,” she explained.
