A wake was held Thursday afternoon at the Frank E. Campbell Funeral Home in New York to celebrate the life of Hoffman, according to New York Daily News.

The actor's girlfriend and mother of his three children, Mimi O'Donnell, invited friends and family to the vigil. Some of the people in attendance were Amy Adams, Justin Theroux, John C. Reilly, Michelle Willams, Cate Blanchett, Joaquin Phoenix and Diane Sawyer.

Hoffman, 46, passed away Sunday after an alleged drug overdose, after he was found with a needle in his arm, and over 70 bags of heroine were found in his Bethune St. apartment. Although arrests have been made upon suspicion, no one has been charged with his death.

According to The Washington Post, a candlelight vigil was held outside the Labyrinth Theater Company Wednesday, held by the New York theater community, of which Hoffman was a longtime member.

A private funeral for family and close friends will be held Friday, and a large memorial is schedule for later this month.
