The family of a popular Russian boxer, who was beaten so badly in November that he had to be put into a coma, filed a lawsuit for $100 million.
According to the New York Post, Magomed Abdusalamov’s family filed the lawsuit against the State of New York claiming that the fight should have been stopped and that he got poor medical care during and after the bout was over.
His family said that ringside doctors cleared him to continue the fight against Mike Perez, even after the 32-year-old looked to be in terrible shape and suffered broken bones.
FOX News noted that the boxer, known as the “Russian Mike Tyson,” was told by doctors only to go to the hospital the next morning because he may have a broken nose.
“They give him no attention! No ambulance!” said boxing manager Boris Grinberg.
Abdusalamov did go to the nearest hospital for medical treatment that night. After arriving, it was revealed that the boxer had swelling on his brain and doctors there were forced to put him in an induced coma.
The New York State Athletic Commission is investigating the case.
