After a warrant was issued for his arrest, former All-Pro safety Darren Sharper turned himself in to authorities in Los Angeles.
According to NBC News, Sharper surrendered to police late Thursday night for the alleged rapes of two women in New Orleans last year.
CNN reported that the Orleans Parish district attorney's office said that Sharper along with acquaintance Erik Nunez, face two counts of aggravated rape. The two men face possible life sentences if they are convicted.
The former NFL player was first arrested in January and investigated for two separate sexual assaults. The New Orleans Police Department said then that they too were investigating the 38-year-old for an alleged assault.
He is also under investigation for sexual assault cases in Florida, Nevada and Arizona.
Sharper spent 14 seasons in the NFL and played with the Green Bay Packers, Minnesota Vikings and New Orleans Saints. He won a Super Bowl with the Saints in 2009.
He retired in 2010 and became an analyst for the NFL Network. On Jan. 18, the station suspended him without pay.
