Former sportscaster Don Tollefson turned himself in Tuesday on felony charges of stealing $100,000 from charities.
According to WPVI, prosecutors say the on-air personality stole more than $100,000 from charitable organizations over the course of three years.
CBS Philly noted that prosecutors have said that Tollefson victimized more than 100 individuals while collecting money for such charities that included the Special Olympics of Pennsylvania, the Salvation Army and the Brad Fox Foundation. He then kept the money he collected for himself.
Tollefson grew up in California and graduated from Stanford University. He began his journalism career in San Francisco as a correspondent for the Associated Press. He later moved east and became a popular sports anchorman in Philadelphia.
In 1999, he was inducted into the Broadcast Pioneers of Philadelphia Hall of Fame, but has since been linked to a series of allegations of fraud and misappropriation of funds.
The former 6ABC and FOX 29 broadcaster is expected to be arraigned on Tuesday.
