Fox has finally jumped into the Jerry Bruckheimer game, ordering a pilot from the prolific producer called Home. The pilot is set to focus on the lives of a suburban family.
The project is described as a soap opera, with a dash of thriller thrown in. It looks at the secrets each member of a suburban family hides from the others.
According to TheWrap, Bruckheimer is on board as an executive producer, along with Jonathan Littman, Aron Eli Coleite and KristieAnne Reed. Coleite is writing the pilot.
Deadline notes that the show received an off-season order, similar to Red Band Society. Octavia Spencer was cast in that project and it received what Fox called a “series prototype” order, in which a pilot is produced, as well as scripts for future episodes.
Bruckheimer is, of course, the producer behind CBS’ CSI franchise, which is getting a new spin-off. He also currently produces CBS’ The Amazing Race and last fall’s Hostages. On the movie side, he’s best known for the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise and action movies like Top Gun.
