In a touching yet funny speech, Knocked Up star Seth Rogan opened up about his family’s struggle with Alzheimer yesterday at the Senate committee meeting in Washington.

When Rogen, 31, met his now wife nine years ago, Lauren Miller, she told him there was something wrong with her mother Adele notesABC News. Adele was diagnosed with Alzheimer at the age of 55 reports Business Insider.

Rogen discussed his preconceived notions of the disease saying he thought “only really really old people got it.”

“I thought the way the disease showed itself was in the form of forgotten keys, wearing mismatched shoes, and being asked the same question over and over again,” he added according to Business Insider.

Seeing how his mother-in-law was forgetting who she was and who her loved ones were by the age 60 opened Rogen’s eyes to the seriousness of the disease.

Rogen and his wife then started Charity for Hilarity to raise awareness and money for the disease. The charity aims to bring the issue to the forefront for younger generations.

Rogen asked the committee and the government to take more action towards the fight against the disease, which for now has no cure.
