The boxing match that was to take place between George Zimmerman and DMX has been cancelled, according to the owner of Celebrity Boxing, Damon Feldman.

According to Eonline, Feldman ultimately decided not to go through with the fight due to public concern. He tweeted on Saturday, “The George Zimmerman fight is cancelled I'm sorry for anyone I hurt with this but this was a very big opportunity thank you.”

Feldman had picked DMX to be Zimmerman’s opponent out of a group of over 15,000 people that were ready to fight him, reports The NY Daily News.

DMX seemed to be looking forward to the fight, as he previously told TMZ, “I am breaking every rule in boxing to make sure I f--- him right up.”

In a series of tweets, Feldman went on to say that people’s feelings mean more to him than the money. He wrote, “I walked away from a million dollar payday with this fight but to be honest I'd rather be happy and make people happy.”
