Hit Netflix show House of Cards has officially been renewed for a third season.

The show, which stars Kevin Spacey and Robin Wright, has yet to air its second season. Trailers for season two went online in early January.
Entertainment Weekly reports that the suspenseful political thriller will return for its third season with 13 new episodes.


House of Cards chronicles the thirst for power by US Congressman Underwood, which is played by Kevin Spacey. The show was Netflix's first foray into originally written and produced content. Netflix has since released more original shows, such as Arrested Development , Hemlock Grove , and Orange is the New Black .

House of Cards has been nominated for and won numerous awards. It took home three 2013 Emmy awards and lead actress Robin Wright won Best Actress at the Golden Globes this year. Most recently, House of Cards scored an WGA Award in the Television: New Series category, as reported by TV Guide .

Announcing the third season has just made fans more excited for the return of the show, which hits Netflix on February 14th. In traditional Netflix fashion, the entire season will be available on its release date. All the better for binge-watching!
