Shakira can really do it all; sing, judge, perform, and of course, shake those ever-truthful hips, and now the global superstar is giving back by opening a school in her native Columbia.

Funded by her non-profit foundation Pies Descalzos (Bare Feet), she returned to Columbia to open a school in the low-income neighborhood of Lomas del Peyé in Cartagena. “This is part of my advocacy: Promote access to universal education,” Shakira told Billboard a few days earlier in an interview. The Lomás del Peyé school and community center, Shakira’s sixth school in Colombia, continues her vision of making the school the center of the community.

USA Today reported the streets were lined up for Shakira’s arrival, which also included her one year old son, Milan, and soccer superstar husband Girard Pique. The school will serve 1,700 children, ranging from day care to high school age.

There will be little time for Shakira to rest, with her new self-titled album coming out on March 21 , as well as her duties as judge on The Voice once the live shows begin in April.
