The International Olympic Committee has said that the Olympic track worker, who was struck by a bobsled, broke both of his legs and may have suffered a concussion.

The Associated Press has reported that the bobsled worker was on the track when he was hit by a sled near the finish line on Thursday.

SB Nation noted that the man was in the breaking area when he was hit by the sled that was testing the safety of the track. Workers in the area are usually warned when one of the sleds is on the track, so it is unknown why anyone was there when the sled came out of the final curve.

"We still do not know why he was in this zone and exactly what happened," IOC President Thomas Bach said.

After the accident the man was airlifted to a nearby hospital.

No other workers were injured and none of the Olympic bobsledders were near the crash when it occurred.
