Brace yourselves Harry Potter fanatics, because J.K. Rowling has spoken up about something that might sicken you. Nearly seven years later, the author of the beloved magical series has expressed regret to writing one of the central romances, Ron and Hermione.
According to CNN, Rowling disclosed her feelings about the literary lovers in an interview with Wonderland entertainment magazine. In the interview, Rowling admits that Hermione should have been paired with wizard hero, Harry Potter, instead of his goofy counterpart Ron Weasley.
POPSUGAR reports that the renowned author stated, “"I wrote the Hermione/Ron relationship as a form of wish fulfillment," Rowling confessed. "That's how it was conceived, really. For reasons that have very little to do with literature and far more to do with me clinging to the plot as I first imagined it, Hermione ended up with Ron."
Keeping her Potterhead’s in mind, Rowling continued saying, "I know, I'm sorry, I can hear the rage and fury it might cause some fans, but if I'm absolutely honest, distance has given me perspective on that. It was a choice I made for very personal reasons, not for reasons of credibility. Am I breaking people's hearts by saying this? I hope not."
The interview with Wonderland was reportedly conducted by Ms. Hermione Granger herself, star, Emma Watson.
Oh the shock and horror, to imagine an ending where Ron and Hermione fail to put their differences aside and spend their lives separate and platonic.
Do you think Hermione should have ended up with Harry?
The revealing interview will be published in Britain’s Wonderland magazine this upcoming Thursday.
