After the injury of the New York Rangers' leading scorer, Mats Zuccarello, J.T. Miller has been recalled from the Hartford WolfPack, the Rangers' AHL affiliate.
Miller, the 20-year old right wing, has spent time playing for both the NHL and AHL. For the Rangers, he has scored only two goals and two assists in 25 games. For the WolfPack, he has 10 goals and 16 assists in 26 games under his belt, according to Empire Writes Back.
Known as “the real J.T.” to his teammates, the 15th pick in the 2011 draft has come back to the NHL. The team and fans alike hope he can help the Rangers with scoring due to the recent injury Mats Zuccarello received during the Sochi Olympics, playing for Norway.
Zuccarello is anticipated to be out for five to six games from a left hand fracture, as reported in Newsday.
Miller has to step up his game, though, if he plans to fill the large shoes Zuccarello left behind. In the AHL, he has been a consistent scorer; hopefully he can bring that up to the NHL with him this time around.
Currently in sixth place in the Eastern Conference, the Rangers hope to continue their success with Miller.
