Jennifer Lawrence is opening up about choosing last year’s Oscars gown. She’s under contract to wear Dior, but she gave some insight into how she chooses which gown she will wear.
Lawrence is nominated for Best Supporting Actress for American Hustle for this year’s Academy Awards. She’s the face of Dior and in their latest campaign for the Miss Dior handbag collection, the 23-year-old actress talked about last year’s dress.
"We were just kind of going through a lot of different designs or pictures… then I saw it, I saw a picture of it from the runway and it was just the most beautiful dress I think I have ever seen," she said, The Telegraph reports.
She also said after visiting the atelier, she has a new perspective on haute couture fashion.
"One of the first things that I did, I went to the atelier when they were hand-stitching everything and there were no machines in the entire room and all of these incredibly talented people, it was really unbelievable to see,” she said. “Now I get the Haute Couture thing - it's a big deal."
Lawrence famously tripped in her Dior Haute Couture gown at last year’s Oscars while walking to the stage to accept her award for Best Actress in Silver Linings Playbook.
She recently talked to W Magazine about the trip.
“I kept thinking, Cakewalk, cakewalk, cakewalk. I thought, Why is ‘cakewalk’ stuck in my head? And then, as I started to walk up the stairs and the fabric from my dress tucked under my feet, I realized my stylist had told me, ‘Kick, walk, kick, walk,’” she explained. “You are supposed to kick the dress out while you walk, and I totally forgot because I was thinking about cake! And that’s why I fell.”
