Syracuse’s head coach, Jim Boeheim, was ejected from Saturday’s game after a controversial call cost his team the game and he decided to react.
The 69-year-old coach began finger-pointing and stomping before running up to referees after what he believed was a bad call that won the game for opposing home team, Duke.
According to Yahoo, this is the coach’s second ejection during his career but it will likely go unforgotten.
“I think the fans will remember Jim Boeheim down here,” Boeheim said shortly after the outburst.
Without the call that won the game for Duke, the game would have ended in a tie. Sporting News reports that the technical foul on Syracuse gave Duke four free-throws, allowing them to win the game.
“I just wanted to see if I still had it in me to go out there and I did,” Boeheim said. “I just thought it was the worst call of the year is all. I just hate to see the game decided on that call.”
The ACC has determined that Boeheim will not receive further punishment for the incident.
